Nightgowns I Love

Beautiful Nightgowns

My favorite of all my nightgowns ever was one I got at a very high end retail establishment.  This particular nightgown was a floor length very sheer silk in an ecru color done in multiple layers.  Even with the layers it was still a bit revealing.  There were no sleeves and it had a slightly scooped neckline with the silk ever so meticulously gathered.  This made the gown fall in a spectacular manner.  Let me tell you, when I put this beautiful piece of handwork on, I felt like a queen -- a movie star.  Honestly, I think every girl should have a one or two nightgowns like this at least once in their life!

In my time, I've seen some sexy nightgowns that I didn't think were that beautiful.  I guess I could say that in reverse, too.  I've seen some beautiful nightgowns that would never reach the qualifications of sexy.  But I don't want or need to feel sexy all the time.  Sometimes I just like to have on something that is beautifully crafted that feels good next to my skin.

Now another of my favorite nightgowns is a black chiffon babydoll.  Need I say more?  You get the picture.  I'm beginning to think that this one is a classic and staple to every woman's wardrobe.  I use mine all the time and I don't just have black.  But that's the color that I like the best in this particular style.  And I love the deep v of it, too.  (So does my man!)  ;-)

Practical Nightgowns

Sometimes a girl just wants to put on one of her flannel nightgowns and a pair of socks and sit by the fire on a cold winter night.  One of the gowns I love is not a work of beauty.  In fact it's an ugly pattern in a huge granny gown style that has white lace around the collar and sleeves.  But after so many washings, it is soooooooooooo comfortable.  And sometimes that is what I need and want.  So there!

I also like thin little cotton nightgowns.  For some reason I prefer that they go all the way to the floor.  Who knows?  But I have several of these that I can slip on and put a light robe on over it for a little modesty sake if the kids are still awake.  These are perfect for the summer (or when I'm having hot flashes).

Not Nightgowns

I have fallen in love with Kay J's by Kay Unger.  These are pajamas usually made of highly spun cotton and/or silk.  They come in wild patterns and colors and are just so comfy with the drawstring waste.  My first pair of these were a gift and I have since purchased several more.  They feel great and work really well for when you're traveling and need something other than a beautiful gown or negligee.

I don't think I own any other pajamas besides these as I much prefer nightgowns.  If you've not tried a pair of these, I heartily recommend that you do so.
